Sony Offers $100 For Your Old Television

January 23, 2008

Sony on Tuesday announced a new offer meant to piggyback on its previously-announced recycling initiative- and help customers upgrade to a higher-end HDTV at the same time, under the new “TV Trade Up” promotion.

Starting this week, and continuing through next March, Sony will offer a $100 coupon towards the purchase of a Sony Bravia TV, provided they recycle their old TV through Sony’s Take Back Recycling Program. The coupon can be used at Sony Style stores, online at Sony’s Web site, and by phone at 1-877-865-SONY.

Bravia televisions, available in LCD and rear-projection models of varying sizes, start at $699.99

The recycling program, established with the help of Waste Management Recycle America, was launched in September, with 79 “eCycling centers” spread across the United States. The program is not restricted to Sony products; the company is willing to recycle televisions of any brand, although recycling fees may be charged for non-Sony products that are not televisions.
